not poetry

I cannot write poetry.
to write poetry you need to be a poet,
you need a poet's face, and poetic hands holding
a poet's notebook.
to write poetry you need to know the right words
from the wrong ones
you need to tell them apart,
figure them out.
you can't just play along with them,
treat them all like good old friends.
you can't go dancing with them on a windy day,
or cry over the word "loneliness"
on a rainy friday night,
when "love" finally left for good.
no, I could never write poetry.
I love words far too much for that,
and would never stand the injustice
of finding le mot juste.
